City Manager Violates Open Meetings Act to Keep Upcoming Bond Financing Secret

On Saturday the Forney City Council conducted a public meeting at Forney City Hall to discuss many of the issues surrounding the city's future.

Public Notice of this meeting was published outside City Hall, on the city website and within the official newspaper of the City of Forney.

The Public Notice requirement, along with all the requirements established under the Texas Open Meetings Act, are required to be followed during the meeting


Motorcycle Fatality Results in Two Arrests

On March 21, 2018, at around 6:00 pm, Forney Police responded to a motor vehicle accident at 1800 FM 741, near Forney High School.

A motorcycle, driven by Mr. Dakota Ashwood W/M/22, collided with a van driven by a female driver. Mr. Ashwood died as a result of the accident.

As a result of the investigation, Forney Police discovered evidence that Mr. Ashwood was racing two other vehicles driven by Armando Leon W/M/17 and Dustin Blake Denton W/M/18.

The speed limit at 1800 FM 741 is 55 mph. The speed of the motorcycle driven by Mr. Ashwood was calculated in excess of 120 mph. Mr. Leon admitted to driving approximately 85 mph. Mr. Denton admitted to traveling between 65 and 70 mph.

The speed of these vehicles was the contributing factor in the accident that resulted in Mr. Ashwood’s death. The driver of the van was not charged with the accident.

Armando Leon and Dustin Blake Denton have both been arrested for the offense of TTC 545.420 Racing on Highway, F/2.
