On Monday, June 24, the Forney ISD school board approved a district-wide pay increase for all employees for the coming 2019-2020 school year.

On March 21, 2018, at around 6:00 pm, Forney Police responded to a motor vehicle accident at 1800 FM 741, near Forney High School.
A motorcycle, driven by Mr. Dakota Ashwood W/M/22, collided with a van driven by a female driver. Mr. Ashwood died as a result of the accident.
As a result of the investigation, Forney Police discovered evidence that Mr. Ashwood was racing two other vehicles driven by Armando Leon W/M/17 and Dustin Blake Denton W/M/18.
The speed limit at 1800 FM 741 is 55 mph. The speed of the motorcycle driven by Mr. Ashwood was calculated in excess of 120 mph. Mr. Leon admitted to driving approximately 85 mph. Mr. Denton admitted to traveling between 65 and 70 mph.
The speed of these vehicles was the contributing factor in the accident that resulted in Mr. Ashwood’s death. The driver of the van was not charged with the accident.
Armando Leon and Dustin Blake Denton have both been arrested for the offense of TTC 545.420 Racing on Highway, F/2.
