State Representative Lance Gooden, standing with thousands of Forney and Kaufman County residents in opposition to the City of Mesquite Annexation Plan, will not be attending tonight’s scheduled Public Hearing, and has proclaimed the meeting “invalid”.
Rep. Gooden issued a Facebook Live Chat declaring the meeting scheduled for 7:30 p.m. tonight as “invalid” after the Mesquite City Council rescheduled the Public Hearing at a location outside of Kaufman County, as was initially promised to the citizens involved.
Having previously promised the Kaufman County citizens living in the Mesquite ETJ proposed annexation area that they would hold a meeting near the affected properties, the Mesquite City Council recently went back on their word and posted a new public notification declaring that tonight’s meeting would be moved to a new location within Mesquite.
The homeowners affected by the unwanted annexation plans of the Mesquite City Council, along with State Representative Lance Gooden are very upset and concerned that this Council has already “gone back on their word” therefore they are refusing to legitimize the meeting with their attendance.
Having always stood firmly with the taxpayers of Kaufman County, The Forney Post will not be providing coverage of tonight’s meeting because we will also not be attending.
