County Clerk, Laura Hughes, is pleased to announce to that the County Clerk’s Office was once again presented the State’s prestigious 2017 Exemplary Five Star Award at the 63rd Annual Vital Statistics Conference.
This marks the 14th year that her office has received this award for outstanding service in the area of birth and death issuance and registration.
The Exemplary Five Star is one of the highest honors given annually to Local Registrars who have met the states qualification.
In 2017, only 20 County Clerks were awarded the ‘exemplary level status’.
Hughes states, “Our office is so pleased to be recognized, but we realize that this award really belongs to the County. Without the support and cooperation of our various partners, such as the J.P.’s, the local funeral homes and the area physicians, we would not be able to meet the states’ stringent qualifications. This award reiterates the fact that by using teamwork and technology we all succeed! For the residents of Kaufman County, this award means that their birth, death and marriage records are safe and available almost immediately.”
Hughes states, “In order to meet the stringent qualifications set by the state, the office really has to go above and beyond and stay on top of vital records all year long. We also must team with the State, the four J.P.’s, our local funeral homes and area physicians. However, by staying diligent and working together, we are able to safeguard and provide to the county residents their birth and death records much more quickly.
Over the last 17 years, the Clerk’s mission has been to embrace teamwork and the latest technology to create an office that is efficient, one that protects and safeguards the records, and is focused on providing the best customer service possible and this award helps highlight that we are on the right track and meeting the challenges!
