Last week the City Council took a giant step forward in communicationing with the youth of Forney, when they unanimously approved a resolution officially forming the Forney Youth Advisory Council.
Introducing the group, Interim City Manager Wendle Medford said “This group here is very wise and talented. Some of the ideas we’ve talked about together, well I was very impressed. So what we’re looking to do is collaborate with the Forney ISD which has a great synergy program where the students are involved and engaged. So what we’re looking to do is elect that and incorporate a Student Advisory Council here in Forney.”
Medford said “So we’ve got together and talked about government and municipal operations, but also about how we can give them the opportunity to incorporate some of their ideas that could help transform our community. As you all know, we’re in a growth phase and this group right here is up to the challenge so without further ado, I’ll turn it over to Ms. Robin Peterson of the Forney ISD.”
Before inviting each of the students participating to directly address the Council about their ideas for Forney, FISD Representative Robin Peterson stated “We really look forward to partnering with the city. We believe in these students voice and what they can bring us.”
