For all the taxpayers who are following the irresponsible spending of the Forney City Council closely, it should be noted that the last Action Item listed on tonight’s council agenda, if approved will provide the Leon Capital Group with an agreement that pays them more than $800,000 in Economic Development incentives.
The Forney City Council will retire into Executive Session to deliberate paying the Leon Capital Group these funds under the legal guise of a Chapter 380 Economic Development Agreement.
Review the attached agenda and notice that the summary states “At the Council meeting on May 15, 2018, the Council took action to direct staff to prepare a Chapter 380 Economic Development Agreement with LCG Highway 80, LLC for the property located at the southeast corner of FM 548 and Highway 80. The draft agreement will be presented to Council in executive session pursuant to Section 551.087 of the Texas Government Code.”
Merely finding a legal means with which to pay Leon Capital LLC the $800,000 the developer believes he is due as reimbursement for cost associated with obtaining TxDOT approval to build a left turn in lane at the very busy intersection of FM 548 and US Highway 80; Council Member’s Shaun Myers, Robbie Powers, Mary Penn and Kevin Moon are pushing to approve an incredibly lucrative Chapter 380 Economic Development Agreement with the Leon Capital Group, who is legally represented by Municipal Consultant Darrell Grooms.
The meetings of the Forney City Council are freely open to the public and those citizens unable to attend this meeting are encouraged to watch the meeting at www.thecityofforney.org
