Kaufman County Republicans Win in Landslide Victories

The November General Election results are in an it appears that hometown favorite, former Forney ISD Board President Republican Keith Bell will be serving the citizens as the new District 4 House Rep. after he achieved a landslide victory over his Democrat opponent.

The District 4 Texas House of Representative seat became available when Representative Lance Gooden chose to seek election to U S House of Representatives after longtime District 5 U S Representative Jeb Hensarling announced his retirement.

Clearing very popular within his district, Republican candidate Lance Gooden received a whopping 70.18% of the total votes cast in his race.

Candidate Gooden received 17,989 early votes, 5,940 Election Day votes and 1,191 absentee votes to total a whopping 26,703 votes received by his supporters.

The number of votes cast in support of Rep-elect Keith Bell were only slightly less than Gooden.

Republican candidate Keith Bell received 26, 601 (70.16%) votes while his Democrat opponent Easton Williams received 10,593 (27.94%) votes and Libertarian candidate D. Allen Miller received 723 (1.91%) of the votes.




The voters of Kaufman County also came out in mass to support first-time Republican candidate for Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace, Amy Tarno.

Another popular candidate with area voters, JP-elect Amy Tarno received 6,011 early votes, 1,213 Election Day votes and 290 absentee votes to total 8,329 (66.12%) votes.

Candidate Tarno easily eclipsed her Democrat opponent, Sandra Lee, who received a total of 4,268 (33.88%) votes.



A handful of Kaufman County politicians were re-elected without challenge, therefore let the votes of confidence cast for these unopposed officials serve as a reminder to them of the trust that the taxpayers of Kaufman County have in them.


30,554 votes - 86th Judicial District Judge Casey Blair

30,015 votes - Kaufman Co. Criminal District Attorney Erleigh Norville Wiley

30,098 votes - Judge Co. Court at Law 2 Bobby Rich

30,332 votes - District Clerk Rhonda Gayle Hughey

 6,493 votes - County Commissioner Precinct 1 Mike Hunt

 9,652 votes - County Commissioner Precinct 2 Skeet Phillips
