Council Approves $1,386,838.57 TxDOT Reimbursement Payment for Unqualified Expenditures on Gateway Bridge Project

As expected, on Tuesday night the Forney City Council spent more than an hour in Executive Session before reconvening to vote on the approval of a $1,386,838.57 payment to the Texas Department of Public Transportation (TxDOT)

which is reimbursement for disqualified expenditures associated with the Gateway Bridge construction.

Without admitting fault or accepting responsibility for yet another very costly mistake made by former City Manager Brian Brooks, Council Member David Johnson made the official motion to approve the expenditure and specifically requested the funds be taken from the Gateway TIF/TRIZ funds.

Councilman Johnson’s motion was quickly seconded by Council Member Shaun Myers after which Council Member’s Penn and Powers voted their agreement resulting in the motion passing by a majority of the council members present at this meeting.

As previously reported Mayor Rick Wilson was unable to attend this meeting due to a family medical situation, and both Council Member’s Cory McGee and Kevin Moon were also absent from this meeting.

Check out the below video and watch as Council Member Robbie Powers can barely contain her happiness and laughter as Council Member David Johnson makes motion to spend $1,386,838.57 in taxpayer funds to correct another Brian Brooks error.

Surely the taxpayers of Forney no longer find the antics of this irresponsible council humorous.
