The City of Forney’s first major roadway reconstruction project is heavily underway on Redbud Street in one of Forney’s oldest neighborhoods.
Motorists traveling through the area are advised to exercise extreme caution as construction workers keep the roadway open to through traffic while they dig up large sections of the street in preparation for the installation of new sewer pipes.
The reconfiguration of Redbud Street is estimated to take at least eighteen months, and there are several signs that claim the roadway is closed.
However, the intersection of Redbud and York Streets is not closed to thru traffic therefore when motorists approach the intersection construction workers simply cease working long enough to allow the vehicle to pass.
The safety and security of this area is being monitored on a daily basis by the City of Forney Public Works Department.
