Tuesday night North Forney High Senior Kamryn Turnbow was recognized by the Forney City Council for making Forney ISD history with an outstanding showing at the Houston Livestock Show.
Reading an Official Proclamation, Mayor Rick Wilson stated “Kamryn’s steer was sponsored by a gentleman from Cypress, Texas, whose wife had recently passed away from stomach cancer. His wife had been a volunteer at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for 20 years, so he decided to sponsor the purchase of a show animal in her memory.”
Mayor Wilson said “Through his generosity, Kamryn was able to purchase this year’s steer. And by working at a local veterinarian’s office, she was able to pay for 100% of the feed for her steer on her own. After months of hard work and sacrifice, Turnbow took the steer to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, where she placed 2nd in her class and made sale. Turnbow’s steer was auctioned off for $12,000.”
He said “I, Rick Wilson, Mayor of the City of Forney, do hereby recognize the week of April 1 – 5, 2019, as Kamryn Turnbow Week in the City of Forney, and urge everyone to join with us in acknowledging her many accomplishments and contributions to our community and for achieving such a high honor.”
