On Tuesday evening former Parks Board Member, Cory McGee, was officially sworn-in by Kaufman County Judge Casey Blair to be the new Place 1 Forney City Council Member.

Councilman McGee was appointed to serve to remainder of the elected term of former Council Member, Darrell Hobbs, who resigned from the Council in November after moving from within the city limits..

Council Member McGee will serve only until May 2016 at which time he may seek official election to the Place 1 position.

Flattered to be appointed from a large selection of candidates, Councilman McGee stated, “I’d like to thank the other gentlemen that went for the position. There was a lot of good competition. They couldn’t have gone wrong with any of the candidates. I’d like to thank my family for being here today and I’d like to thank Mr. Hobbs for his service these past few years for Forney. Thank you.”
