City Council Adopts New Comprehensive Plan

After more than a year of deliberation, last week the Forney City Council unanimously voted to approve the city’s new comprehensive plan. Addressing the Council, Director of Development Peter Morgan explained that the Comprehensive Plan is akin to a city development guide.

Director Morgan stated “The Comprehensive Plan is intended to assist the long term physical development and growth for the next five to ten years. The previous City of Forney Comprehensive Plan was adopted in 2008 and city staff has worked for over a year on this Comprehensive Plan.”

City Council Denies Bell Park Renovations Request

At Tuesday night’s Forney City Council meeting, the Forney Parks and Recreation Department requested council approval to spend $33,000.00 on Bell Park renovations and after considerable discussion the expenditure request was denied.

D R Horton Will Request Approval for Vintage Meadows Phase II

On Thursday night June 2, 2016 the Forney Planning and Zoning Commission will consider a packed agenda that includes the finalization of Phase II of Vintage Meadows, a 22.926 acre residential development located southeast of High Country Lane and northwest of F.M. 741 in the city’s extra-territorial Jurisdiction.

Represented by JBI Partners Inc., property owner and developer D.R. Horton Homes of Texas will request final approval for Phase II of the development which when completed will consists of 117 residential lots and 2 open space lots.

City Council Takes First Step in Annexation Process

During their last council meeting, the Forney City Council set into motion the first step necessary for the annexation of a large section of developing property located south of U S Highway 80 on the western boundary of the city limits.

Voters Elect Beavers to be the Next Sheriff of Kaufman County

The voters of Kaufman County have chosen Bryan Beavers to be the new Sheriff of Kaufman County.

After a long drawn out campaign which resulted in a run-off election between Kaufman County Chief Deputy Bryan Beavers and Kaufman County Deputy Tim Spillman, 5,486 registered voters turned out to voice their opinion on who should lead the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Department.
