Several thousand people visited Forney’s Community Park on Sunday for the 9th Annual City of Forney Turkey Trax Auto Show which raised funds for the Sharing the Love Foundation (STLF).
One of the city’s four annual community events, the Turkey Trax Auto Show has grown considerably, now registering hundreds of contestants from across Texas.
This year the event was organized by the hard working volunteers from the Sharing the Love Foundation, and organizers absolutely hit one out of the park with their decision to move the event from Main Street in historic downtown Forney, to the parking lot in front of the parks soccer fields.
Hundreds of cars and trucks of all make and model, from antiques to the latest in high dollar American and Foreign cars were nicely displayed so that the crowd could easily stop and check out the entries.
STLF Executive Director, Marian Stewart clearly worked hard on the new design layout, adding a free train ride and craft booth for the children attending, as well as a larger variety of food vendors than in previous years.
A hard rock band played from a small stage located at one end of the parking lot before Unique Karz and Awards owner, Gabby Eguia Uribe stepped forward to present contestants with plagues, ribbons and trophy’s in numerous categories.
Several special recognition trophy''s were awarded including the traditional Mayor’s Choice Award, which was presented for a 2015 Mustang GT 500 50th Anniversary Edition entered by owners Richard and Ethan Luhring, and a Sponsor’s Choice Award, which was awarded for a 1911 Ford Model T Touring car owned by Mitch Owen.
It was announced by Sharing the Love Foundations officials that all the proceeds raised at the car show will go to the Sharing the Love Foundation College Scholarship Fund which benefits students from Forney and Kaufman County.
