On Saturday night thousands of American’s gathered on the soccer fields of the Forney Community Park in celebration of Independence Day.
The City of Forney Special Events department presented a massive, free, Independence Day Celebration that packed the park
with thousands of residents and visitors from surrounding communities.
Children attending were treated to free face painting and train rides and everyone seems to really enjoy the large variety of foods available.
At least two dozen food vendors sold hot dogs, tacos, barbeque sandwiches, sausage on a stick, Italian ice cream, corny dogs, nachos and more.
Braving the humidity, area families began arriving at six o’clock with blankets, lawn chairs and coolers to eat picnic style in celebration of Independence Day.
The City of Forney and Connect Church gave away thousands of red, white and blue glow sticks, American Flags and flashing Lady Liberty star sticks. When the park lights went out hundreds of family’s glowed red, white and blue as they enjoyed an awesome array of fire works explode virtually overhead.
A selection of patriotic music was played alongside the fireworks display, which ended with a long lasting series of explosions accompanied by the song “I’m Proud to be an American”.
A great many individuals could be heard singing along throughout the finale, which was followed by extensive whooping, clapping and cheering.
