Every year at Christmas the Kaufman County Clerk’s Office adopts an organization in need.
This year’s selection was the 11 Bravo (Infantry) SST Team HHC 3-144 of the Army National Guard, two of the servicemen are Kaufman County residents. They are currently on a nine month deployment in Africa.
The Clerk’s office, along with several other offices, gathered all the comforts of home to send to our deployed servicemen.
Shipping costs proved to be a challenge, but through generous donations from, Judge Dennis Jones, Judge Casey Blair, Judge Bobby Rich, Commissioner Jakie Allen, Kaufman County Title & Abstract Co., and the following Deputy Sheriffs, Kenny Baker, Galen Weir, and Rusty Grimes, they were able to cover the postage and shipped out 16 full boxes!
The holidays can be a lonely time for those soldiers away from home. County Clerk Laura Hughes said, “Our goal was to bring some holiday cheer and necessities to the men and women who proudly serve. By the looks of these smiling faces, I think we accomplished what we set out to do!”
