Responding to the rainy weather, on Wednesday night the Children’s Ministry of the First United Methodist Church in Forney held a uniquely fun indoor Easter Egg Hunt in celebration of the upcoming Easter holiday.
Several dozen very excited children gathered around the small stage within the cafeteria to first listen politely as FUMC Pastor Chris Allen read the Easter story from the Bible.
Engaging the children, Pastor Allen said “I’m going to read you the Easter story real quick because this is what Easter is about.
Some people think it’s about eggs and Easter baskets. Some people think it’s about bunnies, and it may be about all those things. Easter is about a lot of things, so here is what Easter is about.”
While the children were listening to the Easter story, a huge amount of stuffed Easter eggs were spread across the cafeteria floor, which were next camouflaged by several dozen colorful balloons.
First youngsters under the age of three were invited to hunt for eggs in an adjacent classroom, and then those children ages 4-6 were given a head start collecting eggs.
Following a three count, all the remaining children were next let loose to collect dozens of candy and sticker filled Easter Eggs. Then after about ten minutes of egg collecting, the children had a blast popping all the balloons.
The BIG Forney Post Hat's Off goes out to FUMC Children's Ministry Director, Gina McNeal, for a job really well done!
