On Saturday night a room full of Forney residents and business owners spent almost three hours generously bidding to purchase a variety of auction items to support the projects and administration of the Forney Chamber of Commerce.
Celebrating the hosting of their 30th civic auction, this year’s auction theme was “Purple & Pearls”.
The Chamber of Commerce’s largest fundraiser of the year, the silent auction tables were lined up along one wall where bidders casually browsed tables packed with gift baskets, home apparel, jewelry and gift certificates.
The dinner line opened at 5:30 p.m. to serve a delicious Barbeque brisket and sausage dinner, after which many guests enjoyed the open bar throughout the evening.
The Live Auction was also a huge success with an enormous about of money being raised through the auctioning of several high caliber guns and rifles, sports memorabilia, vacation packages and both a live baby goat and Grand Pyrenees puppy.
And in recognition of their continuous support, recently retired owners of the Forney Messenger Cary and Judy Griffin were honored and inducted as Lifetime Members of the Forney Chamber of Commerce.
