On Thursday afternoon the members of the Forney Chamber of Commerce enjoyed of delicious holiday lunch while listening to a lovely Christmas time performance by the Brown Middle School Choir.
Forney ISD Choir Director Sam Brukham said “We’re really excited to be here today.
We are the Brown Middle School Choir, and we’re done some really wonderful work this year.
I’m so very proud of these students because they have able to accomplish so much. Many things they thought they could never do.”
Opening the program Director Brukham stated “Our first song today is called “African Noel”. It has two simple words that are repeated over and over again. And that is ‘Sing Noel’. Here it is.”
The BMS Choir next performed a lovely rendition of “In the Bleak Midwinter” by Gustav Holst, after which Director Brukham provided a brief update on upcoming Christmas performances of his professional adult choir ensemble.
Director Brukham said “The Verdigris ensemble I stated is a sixteen voice ensemble, and we have a lot of exciting things coming up. We’re partnering with the Dallas Symphony. Also a big initiative is educational outreach. We did an outreach into Forney last year and we hope to continue that over long terms. Later this year, we’ll partner with the Dallas ISD to do a long term voice lesson and outreach sort of project, with them in-concert. So we’re very excited about that. And we were excited to be here today, so thank you for having us.”
