North Forney Indoor Percussion Ensemble Captures Second Place at World Competition

The North Forney Indoor Percussion Ensemble recently competed in the group’s first ever appearance at the Winter Guard International (WGI) World Championships. 

The competition, held on April 11 and 12 in Dayton, Ohio included numerous percussion ensembles from across the country.

 North Forney High School’s Indoor Percussion Ensemble is the first ensemble from Forney ISD to appear at the WGI World Championships.

The North Forney Indoor Percussion Ensemble was in fourth place with a score of 91.35, based on WGI regional scores, as they entered the preliminary competition at the WGI World Championships. After the preliminary competition, North Forney was ranked 3rd with a score of 91.95, 4.45 points behind 1st place.

 

In their performance in the finals competition, the North Forney Indoor Percussion Ensemble achieved a score of 94.4 score, earning 2nd place in the WGI World Championships. The ensemble’s final score was less than half of a point, .45, behind the first place winning ensemble.

The North Forney Percussion Studio will present their final performance of the year on Saturday, May 4 at 6 p.m. in the North Forney High School Performing Arts Center where they will perform their WGI World Championship show as well as other selections.

The performance is free and open to the public.
