Dallas Park and Recreation Department is getting the coolest places in Dallas ready to open Memorial Day weekend. Sprayground season officially begins Saturday, May 25 at 11 of the city’s 17 spraygrounds.
Spraygrounds will operate daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. starting this weekend until late September. For locations and hours of operation, visit dallasaquatics.org.
Popular with children and families, the department’s zero-depth water play areas feature stationary and interactive toys that children can activate with buttons.
Delayed Openings for Two Newly Renovated Spraygrounds
To allow for curing times for the addition of a new cool deck-type surface and other improvements, the following sites will have a slightly delayed opening: Pemberton Hill Park Sprayground will open Sunday, May 26, 2019 and Danieldale Park Sprayground will open Monday, May 27, 2019.
Oscar Carmona, Dallas Park and Recreation Assistant Director, said “Patrons will appreciate the new amenities, especially when it’s double-digit temperatures. A new cool-deck type surface as well as improvements to the drainage system were needed prior to the opening of these spraygrounds. Once renovations are finished, visitors will enjoy a much improved, safer amenity.”
