Dallas Arboretum Announces Big Independence Day Plans

The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden kicks off Independence Day events with live music, $2 hot dogs and root beer floats, and complimentary beer samples.

Active and retired members of the military and first responders with a valid photo I.D. will receive free general garden admission on June 29, June 30, July 4, July 6 and July 7.

1st Cavalry Division Band from Fort Hood takes the Martin Rutchik Concert Stage and Lawn on June 29 for a patriotic performance from 2-4 p.m., and enjoy free beer samples from Franconia Brewing Company at A Tasteful Place. Winner of the Excellence for Military Concert Bands, the 36th Infantry Division Band, performs June 30 from noon to 2 p.m. on the Martin Rutchik Concert stage and Lawn.

Guests can enjoy the nation's patriotic classics and some contemporary and jazz musical surprises. Free beer samples from Old Town Brewhouse will be handed out from noon to 3 p.m. at A Tasteful Place.

On July 4, Window to the Wild bird show returns at 10:30 a.m., followed by Rushmore Band performing from 2 to 4 p.m. on the Martin Rutchik Concert Stage and Lawn. Guests can enjoy free beer samples from 3 Nations Brewery from noon to 3 p.m. at A Tasteful Place. Bring a picnic to the Martin Rutchik Concert Stage and Lawn on July 6 to enjoy a performance by Moving Colors, a top party band in Dallas, from 2-4 p.m. On July 7, recording artists from Houston, The Powell Brothers, take the stage from 2-4 p.m.

Thursday, July 4

Window to the Wild, 10:30 a.m., Martin Rutchik Concert Stage and Lawn

This stunning bird show returns to teach guests and visitors about birds such as Tonks, Athena and Fearnon as they watch them fly over the concert stage.

 

Cherry Pie Demonstration by Emporium Pies, 11 a.m.-Noon

Free with paid garden admission

Emporium Pies demonstrates how to make their signature cherry pie from scratch. Learn tips on how to make a traditional flaky pie crust, a delicious cherry filling and a beautiful lattice top. Guests can purchase pie until 2 p.m.

 

Rushmore Band, 2-4 p.m., Martin Rutchik Concert Stage and Lawn

Enjoy a picnic on the concert lawn while listening to Rushmore Band’s classic rock hits.

Guests can enjoy a performance by Moving Colors, a premier wedding and party band.

Guests can enjoy their Country/Americana-style music while relaxing with a picnic on the concert lawn.

Fourth of July Weekend, June 29- July 7

Start the holiday off with a booming craft, catch story time with the nation’s bird, Eddie the Eagle, burst with knowledge at the July 4th Plant Lab, and then walk over to visit the patriotic OmniGlobe presentation. The garden is celebrating all week long.
