Beginning their annual festivities with a Tricycle/Bicycle Decorating Contest and Parade, the City of Terrell delivered a near perfect Fourth of July Celebration that included an awesome free concert by the Jack Nelson Band and a spectacular fireworks show.
Enjoying beautiful weather, on Thursday night thousands of Kaufman County residents began gathering in Ben Gill Park at sundown for the City of Terrell's annual Independence Day concert and fireworks display.
Currently touring Texas, the Jack Nelson Band performed a free concert in which Nelson sang a large variety of country-western and patriotic songs.
Jack Nelson has an outstanding voice for country music and because he sings with both energy and a clear passion for the music, the bands performance quickly had the audience on their feet singing and dancing.
Performing several crowd favorites including “Folsom Prison Blues” by Johnny Cash, “I'm Gonna Find Somebody New” and “It Wasn't Me”, the Jack Nelson Band enthusiastically prepped the audience for the upcoming fireworks spectacular. And when Nelson invited his father on stage to sing “La Bamba” and “Twist and Shout” the crowd cheered with delight.
Lasting at least thirty minutes, when darkness arrived hundreds of rounds of fireworks burst with brilliant color overhead and all those watching from Terrell Texas joyously celebrated America's Independence.
A really big Forney Post hat's off goes out to the City of Terrell on a job really well done !
