On November 12th, the Forney High School percussion students traveled to Lewisville to compete at the 20th annual Lone Star Drumline Classic held at Marcus High School.
Fifty one drumlines from around the state came to Lewisville to compete at this prestigious contest.
Last weekend Forney resident Hunter Lambert, an Eagle Scout from Boy Scout Troop #339, refurbished and repainted a 50 foot metal house rack and an outside stairwell for the benefit of Forney Fire Station No.1 located on Aimee Street near downtown Forney.
On Saturday, the North Forney High School swim team traveled to Carrollton, Texas to compete in their latest meet and brought home two new school records.
This meet was for swimmers who do have TISCA cuts. A big meet with qualifying times and if the swimmer doesn’t hit one, then the race doesn't score.
Kaufman County Master Gardeners completed their first-ever, in-county training program. The first class had 18 trainees, all of whom are now Master Gardener Interns.
Seven are from Terrell: Sandy Malone, Darrell Scott, Rita Scott, Vicki Stecher, Marie Theobald, Marilyn Walls and Ester Williams.
Several thousand people visited Forney’s Community Park on Sunday for the 9th Annual City of Forney Turkey Trax Auto Show which raised funds for the Sharing the Love Foundation (STLF).
One of the city’s four annual community events, the Turkey Trax Auto Show has grown considerably, now registering hundreds of contestants from across Texas.
On Saturday morning the Forney Historic Preservation League held the Grand Opening of the Spellman Museum of History in downtown Forney and about a hundred supporters immensely enjoyed themselves as several years of hard work culminated in a beautiful, education driven museum.
Last week hundreds of football fans packed City Bank Stadium in Forney to witness the annual “Unity Bowl” football rivalry between Forney High and North Forney High School.
The swimmers of the Forney ISD competed in the Hebron Hawk Invitational on Saturday. The boys finished in 9th place out of 21 teams scoring and finished 28 of all the teams at the meet. FISD Head Swim Coach Dwayne Davis said “All the swimmers did a nice job competing with some big 6A programs and especially on SAT weekend with several team members out”.
On Halloween night while working to keep the families of Forney safe, FPD Officer Tanner Gilbert went out of his way to give one little boy a Happy Halloween.

On Monday night countless area families enjoyed the nice weather as they Trick-or-Treated their way through the neighborhoods of Forney in celebration of Halloween.
Unfortunately for lots of children, the City of Forney’s annually sponsored Trail of Treats Halloween event was a colossal mess complete with a three hour line and no visible children’s games or activities.
Hundreds of Forney families enjoyed the Forney Unity Bowl Parade on Saturday morning and although it was much shorter than in years past, the children attending had a blast seeing it pass through downtown while collecting lots of candy.
