Rain Delay Doesn’t Damper Community Spirit: FHS Wins Unity Bowl Game 39-35

The 2018 Unity Bowl Game between the Forney High School Jackrabbits and the North Forney High School Falcons was a hard fought, equally matched competition in which the Jackrabbits claimed a fourth quarter 39-35 victory.

The game was delayed for approximately an hour due to rain and lightning which resulted in the cancellation of all the pre-game presentations.

However once it game was underway it was an exciting game in which the North Forney Falcons dominated much of the first half of play.

Starting off with a bang, the NFH Falcons scored the first touchdown of the game, and the Jackrabbits answered their challenge by scoring two back-to-back field goals. The 1st quarter ended with the Falcons in the lead 7 -6.

During the 2nd quarter, the Jackrabbits scored a touchdown along with the extra point, and quickly thereafter the Falcons completed two field goals which tied the score 13-13 at half-time.

A very entertaining half-time show was presented that included performances by both high schools’ marching bands and a joint performance by the FHS High Steppers and the NFS Sapphire Struthers.

Upon returning from half-time, both teams were energized and ready to fight for the win. The Falcons scored 22 points during the 3rd quarter while the Jackrabbits scored only one touchdown. By the end of the 3rd quarter the NFH Falcons had a substantial 35 – 20 lead over the Jackrabbits.

However, the Forney High School Jackrabbits turned up the juice during the last quarter of the game. While preventing the Falcons from scoring any further, the FHS Jackrabbits ranked up 19 points during the 4th quarter to win the game 39-35.
