Forney ISD Cross Country Teams Compete at District 13-5A Meet

Years ago, I was told by a high school cross country coach that how a team performs at their District Meet can really define their season.

Well if that is the case, then the Forney ISD cross country teams can define their respective 2018 seasons as pretty good.

The head line performance for the Forney ISD schools at the District 13-5A cross country Meet was turned in by the Forney Lady Rabbit varsity team.

For the record, the Lady Rabbits finished 3rd overall in the team standings. By finishing in the Top 3, the Lady Rabbits qualified to the Regional Meet again.

This will be the 18th time in the last 19 years that the Lady Rabbits have qualified to the Regional Meet as a team. Individually, the Lady Rabbits were led in this race by senior Drisany Hernandez (4th in a time of 21:20), and sophomore Laisha Garcia (5th in a time of 21:28.). It should be mentioned that this is the 2nd straight year that Drisany has finished in the Top 10 at the District Meet.

Other Forney Lady Rabbits who ran in this race were senior Hannah Holdbrook (20th in a time of 23:30), junior Enjane Soule (24th in a time of 23:56), Marissa Bis (31st in a time of 24:34), sophomore Alia Brink (34th in a time of 25:30), and senior Hanna Powell (37th in a time of 25:49).

   

For North Forney, their top performers at the District 13-5A Meet were senior Christian Frank and freshman Alyssa Hood. Mr. Frank finished 7th overall in the varsity boys’ race with a time of 17:36. By finishing in the Top 10 individually, Mr. Frank qualified to the Regional Meet. Meanwhile, Ms. Hood finished 6th individually in the varsity girls’ race with a time of 21:42. By finishing in the Top 10 individually, Ms. Hood also qualified to the Regional Meet.

The Regional Cross-Country Meet will take place on Monday October 22nd at Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie, Texas.

Other North Forney Lady Falcons who ran in this race were junior Bianca Monrreal (11th in a time of 22:22), senior Karaline Wiley (21st in a time of 23:32), senior

Alyssa Kinard (36th in a time of 25:47), freshman Lysbeth Chavez (38th in a time of 36:03), and sophomore Bella Amaro (39th in a time of 36:11).

Other North Forney Falcon boy runners who ran in this race were Clayton White (24th in a time of 19:14), Jose Ortiz, (25th in a time of 19:17), Yabkel Demolesh (35th in a time of 20:04). Abraham Hernandez (37th in a time of 20:04), Connor Rohman (40st in a time of 20:24), and Datravian Brown (41st in a time of 20:26).

The Forney Jackrabbit varsity boys who ran in this race were Henok Gebreyesus (18th in a time of 18:47), Gabriel Chavez (27th in a time of 19:21), Nathan Beckstead (32n in a time of 19:49), Dylon Peterson (33rd in a time of 19:51), Payton Bryant (39th in a time of 20:22), (Jerotti Devello (43rd in a time of 20:58), and Liam Spence (45th in a time of 22:29).

  

In the varsity girls’ team standings at the District 13-5A Meet, Kaufman won the District Title with a score of 22 points, West Mesquite finished 2nd with 83 points, and Forney High School came in 3rd with 84 points. Then, 4th-7th in the District Standings finished this way: Terrell (86 points), Mesquite Poteet (106 Points), North Forney (112 points), and Lancaster (162 points). Note In Cross Country, like in golf, low score wins.

In the varsity boys’ team standings at the District 13-5A Meet, Kaufman won the District Title with a score of 25 points, Mesquite Poteet finished 2nd with 54 points, and West Mesquite came in 3rd with 55 points. Then, 4th-7th in the District Standings finished this way: North Forney (128 points) Forney High School (149 points), Terrell (153 points), and Lancaster (185 points).

In the JV Girls Team standings, Forney High School and North Forney finished 2nd and 4th respectively. Individually, top finishers in the JV Girls race for Forney High School were sophomore Bethany Leos (7th in a time of 24:26), Emma Denning (8th in a time of 24:33), and Annabelle Enriquez (9th in a time of 24:57).

In the JV Boys Team Standings, North Forney finished 4th. Individually, the top finisher for North Forney was junior Ethan Waugh (7th in a time of 19:51).
