On Monday, October 22, a handful of Forney ISD athletes competed at the Class 5A Region II Cross Country Meet.
Due to wet conditions, the Regional Cross-Country Meet was moved from Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie, Texas to the Jesse Owens Complex in Dallas Texas.
Overall, the Forney Lady Rabbits finished 21st in the final varsity girls Class 5A team standings at the Regional Meet.
The team consisted of senior Drisany Hernandez (93rd in a time of 21:44.66), sophomore Laisha Garcia (128th in a time of 23:13.85), junior Enjane Soule (132nd in a time of 23.19.83), senior Hannah Holdbrook (143rd in a time of 23:57.28), sophomore Alia Brink (146th in a time of 24:01.54), Marissa Bis (152nd in a time of 24:25.00), and senior Hanna Powell (160th in a time of 25:06.92).
Meanwhile, individually in the varsity girls Class 5A race, North Forney freshman Alyssa Hood finished 81st in a time of 21:20.74). For the record, there were 181 runners in the varsity girls’ Class 5A race.
Also, individually, in the varsity boys Class 5A race, North Forney senior Christian Frank finished 63rd in a time of 17:02.29. For the record, there were 183 runners in the varsity boys’ Class 5A race.
The varsity boys’ teams that qualified for the State Meet were in order Lovejoy High School (Team Score of 37 points), Frisco Wakeland High School (Team Score of 109 points), and Kaufman High School (Team Score of 115 points).
Also, the varsity girls’ teams that qualified for the State Meet were in order Frisco Wakeland High School (Team Score of 51 points), Dallas Highland Park High School (Team Score of 91 points), and Frisco Liberty High School (Team Score of 123 points).
