North Forney Falcons Defeat Terrell Tigers

Behind a strong defensive effort, the North Forney Falcon varsity football team was able to defeat Terrell by a count of 17-6.

With the victory, North improves to 3-5 overall and 2-4 in District 8-5A Division II play. Terrell falls to 1-7 overall and 1-6 in District action.

For the record, North Forney held Terrell to just 240 total offensive yards in this game (213 rushing and 27 passing).

In this game, the Falcons did a great job of virtually shutting down the Tigers potent Veer rushing attack.

In fact, both defenses played very well in this game as evidenced by the fact that the score remained scoreless until the late stages of the first half.

Overall, in that first half, both teams combined to punt the football 5 times, they fumbled twice between them, and they also each had a ball over downs situation.

The only points in the first half came on a 10 play 86-yard touch down drive by the Falcons. The TD was registered when TyRondric Collins burst up the middle and scored on a 38-yard run. So, after the extra point was kicked through the uprights by Carlos Rodriguez, North Forney led 7-0 at the 1:08 mark of the 1st half.

At half time, North Forney still led 7-0.

Then, early in the 3rd quarter after a Terrell punt, North Forney began what would be an 8 play 49-yard TD drive. The TD came on a 14-yard pass from the new Falcons starting quarterback sophomore Jacob Acuna to senior wide receiver Cory Johnson. With the PAT, North Forney led 14-0 at the 6:19 mark of the 3rd quarter. A key play on this drive was a 6-yard run for a first down by Jacob Soto on a 4th and 3 snap. Then, on the very next play, Mr. Acuna and Mr. Johnson would hook up for the game clinching touchdown.

Following this TD by North Forney, Terrell tried to fight their way back into the game. They finally got their strong running game going on their next drive. The Tigers embarked on a 9 play 75-yard TD march. The TD came on a 28-yard run by Chris Davis. After this TD, the PAT was no good thus leaving the score at 14-6 for North Forney at the 2:04 mark of the 3rd quarter.

In the 4th quarter, North Forney would effectively put this game in the win column with one more scoring drive. After the TD by Terrell, North Forney would respond the very next time that they had the football by driving from the Terrell 49- yard line to the Terrell 12. Form there, the drive stalled.

But, Carlos Rodriguez came on and booted through a 29-yard field goal to increase North Forney’s lead to the final score margin of 17-6 at the 11:30 mark of the 4th quarter. A key play on this drive was a 14-yard pass completion from Mr. Acuna to Mr. Chris Bellamy for a first down on a 4th and 7 snap. Three plays later, the field goal was registered by Mr. Rodriguez.

Some offensive stars in this game for north Forney were Jacob Acuna ((10 of 19 passing for 107 yards and 1TD), Jacob Soto (19 carries for 99 yards), TyRondric Collins (7 carries for 69 yards and 1 TD), and Cory Johnson (5 receptions for 63 yards and 1TD).
