January Basketball Update for Area High Schools

On January 15, the North Forney Lady Falcon basketball team rallied to defeat Lancaster by a count of 53-50.

Entering the 4th quarter, Lancaster led 42-32. However, the Lady Falcons outscored the Lady Tigers 21-8 in the final frame to ultimately win this game in come back fashion.

With this victory, North Forney improves to 18-9 overall on the season and 6-1 in District 13-5A play. The Lady Falcons had three players score in double figures during this game. Those players were Jordan Hammons (21 points), Kaylin Smith (19 points), and Megan Kissi (10 points).

On January 15, the Forney Lady Rabbit basketball team defeated West Mesquite by a count of 34-30. With this victory, Forney High School improves to 2-5 in District 13-5A play. Anna Hayes and Starr Desmond led the way offensively for the Lady Rabbits in this game with 9 points and 8 points respectively.

Boys Basketball News

On January 15, the Lancaster boys’ basketball team defeated North Forney by a count of 80-61. With this victory, the Tigers, who are currently ranked #1 in the state by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches, sit at 21-2 overall and 5-0 in District 13-5A play. For North Forney, Tre Summers (20 points), and Billy Williams (11 points) scored in double figures during this game. With this loss, North Forney falls to 3-2 in District action.

On January 15, the West Mesquite Wrangler basketball team defeated Forney High School by a count of 64-37. With this loss, Forney High School falls to 0-5 in District 13-5A play. Addison Haley was Forney’s top scorer in this game with 8 points.

 

District 11-6A Basketball News

Girls Basketball 

On January 15, the Rockwall Lady Jacket basketball team defeated Longview High School by a count of 63-43. With this victory, Rockwall improves to 6-1 in District 11-6A action. Rockwall is currently tied for 1st place in the District 11-6A standings with Mesquite Horn. The Lady Jackets had three players score in double figures during this game. Those players were Mikki Witcher (17 points), Jordan Mathis (15 points), and Jada Stull (11 points).

On January 15, the Tyler Lee Lady Raider basketball team defeated Rockwall-Heath by a count of 52-17. With this loss, Rockwall-Heath falls to 0-7 in District action.

Boys Basketball

On January 15, the Rockwall High School boys’ basketball team defeated Longview High School by a count of 80-41. With this victory, Rockwall improves to 21-5 overall and 5-0 in District 11-6A play. Rockwall is currently ranked 8th in the state by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches. Individually, Samuel Williamson and Alec Grandstaff led the way offensively for Rockwall in the Longview game with 22 and 20 points respectively.

On January 15, the Rockwall-Heath basketball team defeated Tyler Lee by a count of 60-50. With this victory, Rockwall Heath improves to 2-3 in District 11-6A action. Individually, Skyler Stutts (19 points), Kameron Pruitt (15 points), and Drake Brown (11 points) led the way offensively for Rockwall-Heath in the Tyler Lee game.
