North Forney Power Lifting Team Hosts North Forney Invitational Meet

On January 16-17, the North Forney Power Lifting Team hosted and participated in the North Forney Invitational Meet.

The schools at the Meet this year were North Forney, Forney High School, Rockwall-Heath, Palmer High School, South Garland, Corsicana Mildred, Royse City, Cedar Hill, and Terrell.

South Garland, Cedar Hill, North Forney, Royse City, and Scurry Rosser just brought Boys Teams to this Meet.  Terrell just brought a Girls Team to this Meet.

Here is how an athlete scores points for their team at a Texas High School Power Lifting Meet.  1st Place Finish in Weight Class = 7 points, 2nd Place Finish in Weight Class = 5 points, 3rd Place Finish in Weight Class = 3 points, 4th Place Finish in Weight Class = 2 points, and 5th Place Finish in Weight Class = 1 point.

Overall, the Forney Lady Rabbit Power Lifting Team won this Meet as a team by scoring a grand total of 53 points. The Lady Rabbits individually registered four first place and five second place finishes at this Meet.

The Lady Rabbits were led at this Meet by Sadie Hewitt. Ms. Hewitt won her 220 lb. weight class by lifting a grand total of 990 lbs. Note: Ms. Hewitt was a State Meet Medalist last season. Also, for the Lady Rabbits, Alissa West, Jordyn Watson, and Anna Gafford won their 105, 123, and 148 lb. weight classes respectively by lifting grand totals of 480, 585, and 510 lbs. in that order.

The 2nd place finishes at this Meet for the Lady Rabbits were turned in by Brooke Woods (She lifted a grand total of 465 lbs. in the 123 lb. weight class), Mary Gradt (She also lifted a grand total of 465 lbs. in the 132 lb. weight class), Kayla Beers (She lifted a grand total of 535 lbs. in the 165 lb. weight class), Chaney Elliot (she lifted a grand total of 540 lbs. in the 181 lb. weight class), and Eva Snelgrove (she lifted a  grand total of 630 lbs. in the 198 lb. weight class).

For the Forney Jackrabbit Boys Power Lifting Team their top finisher at this Meet was Gabriel Dexter. Mr. Dexter won his 181 lb. weight class by lifting a grand total of 1,190 lbs.  

Also, for the Forney Jackrabbit Boys, they had one 2nd Place finish, three 3rd Place finishes, and four 4th Place finishes at this Meet as well.  The 2nd Place finish was turned in by Gavin West (He lifted a grand total of 955 lbs. in the 148 lb. weight class). The 3rd place finishes were turned in Jose Zuniga (He Lifted a grand total of 610 lbs. in the 123 lb. weight class), Jonathan Martin (He lifted a grand total of 735 lbs. in the 132 lb. weight class), and Devin Rundells (He lifted a grand total of 940 lbs. in the 165 lb. weight class). 

The 4th Place finishes were turned in by Keshawn Johnson (He lifted a grand total of 875 lbs. in the 148 lb. weight class), Hunter Shaw (He lifted a grand total of 1, 105 lbs. in the 198 lb. weight class), Graham Burns (He lifted a grand total of 1,180 lbs. in the 220 lb. weight class), and Cade Crawford (He lifted a grand total of 1,340 lbs. in the Super Heavy Weight Division).

For the North Forney Boys, their top finishers at this Meet were Gio Lozano and Anthony Perez. Mr. Lozano won his 114 lb. weight class by lifting a grand total of 485 lbs. while Mr. Perez captured his 165 lb. weight class by lifting a grand total of 1,115 lbs. 

Also, for the North Forney Boys, they had one 3rd Place finish and one 5th place finish at this meet as well. The 3rd Place finish was turned in by Kobie Norman (He lifted a grand total of 935 lbs. in the 148 lb. weight class. The 5th place finish was tuned in by Patrick Lacy (He lifted a grand total of 1,160 in the 242 lb. weight class).

Overall, the Forney Jackrabbit and North Forney Falcon Boys finished 3rd and 5th respectively in the team standings at this Meet. Forney High School registered 29 points while North Forney rang up 18 points.
