FHS Lady Rabbit Softball Team is on Hot Streak

The Forney Lady Rabbit softball team is currently on a hot streak. The team has recently collected impressive victories over Keller High School, Arlington Martin High School, Plano High School, and Rockwall-Heath High School.

All of these schools were 6A playoff teams last season.

Also, Keller and Plano are considered to be state power house softball teams. Historically, Keller won 6A State Softball Titles in 2016 an 2017 while Plano made the 6A State Softball Final 4 in 2018. Of course, Forney is in that State Softball powerhouse team category as well after winning the 5A State Softball Title in 2018.

After these impressive victories, Forney’s overall record right now stands at 8-1 as they head to the Houston area to play in a tournament later this week.

On February 21st at the Southlake Carroll Tournament, Forney defeated Keller by a count of 8-5 in what turned out to be a four-inning game due to tournament time limits.

Due to heavy rainfall, this was the only game that Forney got to play at the Southlake Carroll Tournament.

Against Keller, Forney exploded for 8 runs in the 2nd inning to build an early 8-0 lead in the game. After this inning, Forney looked to be in total control. RBI’s in this frame for Forney came from Calleigh Cross (Grand Slam Home Run—4 RBI’s), Vanessa Hollingsworth (RBI Double), Sadie Hewitt (RBI Double), Lexi Brown (RBI Single), and Kyler Sanders (RBI Fielder’s Choice Ground Ball).

However, Keller, a very talented team in their own right, tried to mount a furious rally in the 4th inning. The Lady Indians, who coming into the game, were ranked #1 in the State by the Texas Girls Coaches Association, scored 5 runs in the frame to cut Forney’s lead to 8-5. But, Keller’s dramatic rally would fall short after Forney got some key outs under pressure to win the game.

On Friday, February 22nd, Forney squared off against Arlington Martin High School in a non-district game Forney completely dominated this game in every way possible as they won by a count of 15-0.
