Rockwall Boys Basketball Team Captures Regional Quarter Final Playoff Victory

On Tuesday, February 26, the state ranked Rockwall Yellow Jacket Boys Basketball Team hung on for a 58-57 Regional Quarter Final Playoff victory over Killeen Shoemaker. With this victory, Rockwall improves to 30-6 overall on the season.

The Yellow Jackets will now advance to the Regional Semi Final Playoff Round. Killeen Shoemaker, who was also a state ranked team, sees their season end at 32-6.

At half time of this game, Rockwall led 29-28. Then, Rockwall played a strong 3rd quarter as they out scored Killen Shoemaker by a count of 15-8 in the frame. This offensive burst helped Rockwall stretch their lead to 44-36 after three quarters of play.

However, in the 4th quarter, Killeen Shoemaker battled back into the game. With 3.9 seconds left, Rockwall was clinging to a 58-56 lead when one of the Shoemaker players was fouled while attempting a shot. But, with a chance to tie the game, this Shoemaker player only made 1 of 2 free throws. So, in the end, Rockwall escaped with the victory.

Individually, Rockwall had two players score in double figures during this game. Those players were Samuel Williamson (19 points) and Sherman Brashear (14 points).

Rockwall now will play state ranked Klein Forest in the Regional Semi Final Playoff Round. This game is scheduled to be played on Friday, March 1st at the Ellis Davis Field House in Dallas, Texas. Tip Time: 6:00 p.m.
