On, Friday, April 12th, the North Forney Lady Falcon Soccer Team saw their historic 2019 season come to a close due to an 8-0 loss to state power house Dallas Highland Park in the Regional Semi Final Playoff Round.
With the loss, North Forney finishes their 2019 season with a 17-3-6 overall record. Meanwhile, with the victory, Highland Park improves their overall record to 23-1-3.
It took a great Highland Park team to finally knock the Lady Falcons out of the playoffs.
On Saturday, April 13th, in the Regional Final Playoff Game, Highland Park defeated Frisco Independence by a count of 2-1. This victory advances Highland Park to the State Final Four in Georgetown, Texas. Going into the State final Four, Highland Park’s overall record for the season currently stands at 24-1-3.
Historic Note: Remember, when you look back on this season that these 2019 Lady Falcons were the first ever Forney ISD soccer team (boys/girls) to advance to the Regional Semi Final Playoff Round. That is a very special achievement. Congratulations indeed!!!
Goals in this game for Highland Park were scored by Maja Davison (3 Goals—39:05 mark of the 1st half. 20:36 mark of the 2nd half, and the 14:44 mark of the 2nd half), Presley Echols( 2 Goals—33:12 mark of the 1st half and the 29:04 mark of the 1st half), Megan O’Neal (2 Goals-- 7:40 mark of the 1st half and 37:59 of the 2nd half), and Kinsley Corn (1 Goal at the 6:59 mark of the 2nd half).
Shannon Boyle had the best scoring chance for the Lady Falcons in this game. In the 19th minute of the 1st half, she blasted about a 50-foot free kick shot which was right on target for the goal. But, the Highland Park goalie made a strong leaping catch/save of the shot. This impressive play by the Highland Park goalie prevented North Forney from getting on the score board.
