Forney ISD Softball Area Playoff Series

This past week, the Forney Lady Rabbit and North Forney Lady Falcon softball teams played in very tough and exciting Area Playoff Series.

Here are the results of the Forney Lady Rabbit vs. Texarkana Texas High Area Playoff Series.

Here are the results of the North Forney Lady Falcon vs. Hallsville High School Area Playoff Series.

Game 1: North Forney Lady Falcons 3 Hallsville High School 2

Game 2: Hallsville High School 5 North Forney Lady Falcons 2

Game 3: Hallsville High School 3 North Forney Lady Falcons 2

With their Area Playoff Series victories, the Forney Lady Rabbits improved their overall record to 31-3. Meanwhile, the North Forney Lady Falcons saw their solid season end at 18-11-1.

In Game 1 at Paris Chisum High School on Tuesday, April 30th, the defending state champion Forney Lady Rabbit softball team battled past Texarkana Texas High. Overall, in this game, Forney scored 3 runs in the top of the sixth and 1 in the seventh.

RBI’s in this game for Forney were registered by Trinity Cannon (RBI Single to Left in the 6th), Savanna DesRochers (2 RBI Double to Center in the 6th), and Hannah Holdbrook (RBI Triple to Left in the 7th).

In the pitching circle for Forney, Savanna DesRochers limited Texarkana Texas High to 1 run on 3 hits while striking out 15.

 

In Game 2 at Paris Chisum High School on Thursday, May 2, Texarkana Texas High found a way to win and in the process, the Lady Tigers snapped Forney’s 19 game win streak. The runs for Texarkana Texas High in this game came during the top of the 6th inning via a RBI groundout and a RBI single to center respectively. So, now the score was 2-0 in favor of Texarkana Texas High.

Forney scored a run in the bottom of the 6th on a solo homer to left by Trinity Cannon which cut Texas High’s lead to 2-1. Then, in the bottom of the 7th and final inning, Forney got the potential tying run to third base. But, in the end, Texas High registered the final out to secure victory. So, now this series was headed to a 3rd and deciding game.

In Game 3 at Paris Chisum High School on Friday May 3, the Forney Lady Rabbits showed their state champion heart was as big as ever. With their season on the line, Forney fought their way past Texarkana Texas High to win this very competitive Area Playoff Series.

Overall in this game, Forney scored three runs in the top of the second inning and 1 in the seventh on their way to ultimate victory. RBI’s in this game for Forney were produced by Jesika Roberts (RBI Bunt Single in the 2nd), Calleigh Cross (RBI Single to Right in the 2nd), Trinity Cannon (RBI Double to Center in the 2nd), and Vanessa Hollingsworth (RBI Sacrifice Bunt in the 7th).

In the pitching circle for Forney, Savanna DesRochers surrendered just 1 run on 3 hits while striking out 10.

Now, with the Area Playoff Trophy in hand, the Lady Rabbits will advance to the Regional Quarterfinal Playoff Round. In the Regional Quarterfinal Playoff Round, the Lady Rabbits will face off against state ranked Joshua High School in a best of 3 series.

 

The series schedule is as follows.

Game 1: Friday, May 10th @ Rockwall Heath High School Start Time: 7:00 p.m.

Game 2: Saturday, May 11th @ Cleburne High School Start Time: 12:00 Noon.

Game 3 (if necessary): Saturday, May 11th @ Cleburne High School. Start Time: Will start if needed approximately 20 minutes after Game 2.

 

 

Here is a recap of the North Forney Lady Falcon vs. Hallsville High School Area Playoff Series.

In Game 1 @ Whitehouse High School on Tuesday, April 30th, Hallsville built a 2-0 lead thanks to single runs in the first and fourth innings.

But, in the top of the 6th inning, North Forney rallied to take the lead by scoring three runs. RBI’s in this inning for North Forney were produced by Savannah Gunn (RBI Single to Center) and Riley Borton (RBI Groundout). Also, North Forney scored the eventual game winning run when Denea Brumfield headed home via a wild pitch by Hallsville. Note: North Forney took advantage of 5 Hallsville errors in this game.

In the pitching circle for North Forney, Savannah Gunn surrendered just 2 runs on 6 hits while striking out 9.

In Game 2 @ Sunnyvale High School on Friday, May 3rd, state ranked Hallsville (31-3) bounced back to defeat North Forney.

In this game, Hallsville took an early 1-0 lead when they scored a run in the first inning via a RBI groundout.

However, North Forney fought back by scoring two runs in the bottom of the 4th inning to take a 2-1 lead. These runs came home via a 2 RBI double to left by Hayeli Acosta.

But, in the top of the 5th, Hallsville answered back as they scored three runs to retake the lead at 4-2. These runs came home via a RBI sacrifice fly to center, a RBI double to right, and a RBI single to left respectively

Then, the Lady Cats increased their lead to 5-2 when they scored another run via a RBI single to right in the top of the sixth.

So, now this series was headed to a 3rd and deciding game.

In Game 3 @ Whitehouse High School on Saturday, May 4, Hallsville and North Forney went toe to toe like two boxers in a great fight.

Hallsville scored two runs in the bottom of the third inning to take a 2-0 lead. These runs came home via a RBI single to right and a RBI single to center respectively.

But, North Forney responded by scoring two runs of their own in the top of the fourth inning to tie the game at 2-all. RBI’s in this frame for North Forney were produced by Brooke Corneilson (RBI Double to Left) and Mirella Manzo (RBI Single to Right) respectively.

This game would stay tied at 2-all until the bottom of the 7th and final inning. In this frame, Hallsville scored the game winning run on a North Forney error.
