Texas AG Staff Attorney Resigns in Wake of Offensive Facebook Comments

A high ranking attorney employed by the Office of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton resigned on Thursday morning after he was admonished for publishing a Facebook rant that called women's sexual misconduct allegations "pathetic."

Associate Deputy Attorney General Andrew D. Leonie published this post on Facebook on Wednesday afternoon, and on Thursday morning Leonie resigned his position.

The offensive posting has since been deleted from Leonie's Facebook page.

Director of Communications Marc Rylander today gave this statement following the resignation of former Associate Deputy Attorney General Andrew Leonie:

“This afternoon, Andrew Leonie resigned his position with the Office of the Attorney General effective immediately. The views he expressed on social media do not reflect our values. The OAG is committed to promoting and maintaining a workplace that is free from discrimination and harassment.”
