Since its first Walmart Wellness event in 2014, Walmart has provided more than 2.5 million free screenings to people across the country.
These screenings have helped customers discover underlying issues like high blood pressure and diabetes that they now can manage – and in some cases, these screenings have saved customers’ lives.
At the upcoming Walmart Wellness event this Saturday, September 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. local time at more than 4,600 Walmart stores, Walmart is introducing even more free services and resources to help customers live better.
Walmart will continue to offer free health screenings, flu shots, low-cost immunizations, free vision screenings (in locations with a vision center) and an opportunity to talk with a local pharmacist.
“With hundreds of thousands of people attending each Walmart Wellness event, we saw an opportunity to expand our offering beyond basic health screenings and low-cost immunizations,” said Alex Hurd, senior director, Health and Wellness, Walmart U.S. “The redesigned Walmart Wellness event will provide customers with even more resources to support their healthy living journey.”
Here is just some of what’s new at Saturday’s Walmart Wellness event:
• Free total cholesterol screenings will be offered for the first time.
• To promote healthy eating, hundreds of thousands of free apples and mandarin oranges from Walmart’s produce department will be distributed.
• Details on ZP Challenge, a program that began with Walmart associates, which encourages anyone to compete for a chance to win cash prizes by making daily better choices in the areas of fitness, family, food and money, will be available.
• More experiences from third-party organizations to be featured, including the ability to check your body’s true age based on health factors with Sharecare Real Age, and Fresh Tri, a service to influence better eating habits.
